extrasensory presents a one day festival of sound art and innovative electronic music, with installations, live performance and sound presentations.

JOHN BARTHOLOMEW: Installation. In a darkened space, a large cylinder made from tissue paper glows red from the hidden electric heater inside it. The hot air from this heater makes the paper cylinder rise up. This in turn allows cooler air in from below, thereby making the cylinder gently return to the ground again. The subtle sound of this constant rhythm is transmitted through microphones attached to the cylinder.

MMEDIA: Tent. A tent is pitched in the middle of the gallery space. Visitors are invited to enter the tent where they find a pair of headphones. These transmit the ambient sound of the tent in rainfall. The listener is transported in time and space through the use of sound to the location of the original recording which was made using binaural microphones hung in the centre of the tent space.

PONTUS JOGI: Train to Town + Point of View. These works, the first using pixelation (compression) of sound and visual, the other simultaneous split-screen vertical / horizontal animated landscapes, are interested in the transmission of information: what is missing and how much we can digest and understand at any moment in time.

JIM Y WOOD: concrt_Wagon. This work highlights a relationship between lack of motion and perceived noise. An interactive piece, the 'driver' of a static Renault 4 car triggers a computer which processes live sound input from sensors both inside the car and from the car's surrounding environment.

IMMEDIA: Testcard. A video testcard and its inverted image are animated over a two frame loop. The speed and lo-res quality of this hypnotic image introduces random visual noise. South Wing Listening Room from 7pm

MARC BEHRENS: Live Performance. A sound artist noted for his use of environmental and field recordings which are crafted into a musical tapestry of the microsonic.

CM VON HAUSSWOLFF: Live Performance. The sonic resonance of electricity translated through the use of microphones, domestic appliances and sound equipment to create electro-magnetic compositions that depict static, repetitive and spatial qualities.

DUUL_DRV: Live Performance. A sound artist from Canada whose work is produced from digital signal malfunction and who actively explores the microsonic noisefloor of digital equipment. Here duul_drv presents a selection of recent works including his tonal pieces which slowly change in small frequency increments over longer periods of time: an alteration which is felt more than heard.
