Speakeasy 18-10-2004

This month, Speakeasy, East London's premier poetry and spoken word event brings two special events. The first instalment is a special one-off event. Dutch Pot – The Amsterdam Connection, part of the national UK tour. This special event features some of the finest poets based in the Netherlands as well as UK based artists. From the Netherlands, artists include language artisan Lennie St. Luce, who has performed with many of poetry's living legends including Linton Kwesi Johnson, Amir Baraka, Benjamin Zephania to name a few.

Her personal, political and powerful poetry Is recognised on an international scale. Poet, playwright and short storywriter Iriel Sayeed who does not speak to make the people clap; she wants to see the people act! English troubador who has now settled in the Netherlands, Ken Parsons, and African poetess Thandi Vilakazi. Other artists include Poet & prize-winning Film maker Frank DIamond, Roger Cliffe-Thompson, Aja waalwijk, Anneriek van Dorst. Polish Performance Poet Grazyna Przvbl and Paul Cowlan. UK artists include acclaimed writer Patricia Foster, noted for her passionate and honest performances and wwhoseinsigntrul and emotive poetry and short stories nave captivated audiences across sine un and abroad. Performances also from Publisher & Filmmaker Dolly Sen and Speakeasy Host Baden Prince Jnr. Special guest co-host, Netherlands-based Barry Fitton.
