291 Gallery is pleased to present the London Premiere of: NEW COMPOSERS
21st September 2001
New Composers are giving a one-off multimedia performance at 291 supported by Andrew Weatherall’s re-mixer DJ, Mark Oliver.
The most exciting music makers of the Wild East are coming to London.
In their hometown of St. Petersburg, Novye Compository - New Composers - are well known among the music cognoscenti as the freshest avant garde electro dance band around.
Abroad the band has performed and recorded with such respected artists as Pete Namlook, Germany; Bob Stoute, Holland; Tapani Rinne, Finland and Brian Eno (UK) who also collaborated on their 1999 album "Smart".
Raylab - a laser artist from St.Petersburg – will provide illuminating lightscapes which combine lasers, electronics, optics, computers, sensors, and microcontroller technology.
Video art from leading Russian film-makers will also be provided by Valera Alakhov alongside video projections by Thomas Lisle who specialises in 3D computer generated art.
New Composers have just returned from their last gig, a sell out at the Andy Warhol Museum in New York. But it's been ten years since their last gig in London so don't miss this one!
