THE MAJORETTE-ROSPECTIVE
May 13th 2004
On May 13th THE MAJORETTE-ROSPECTIVE takes over the 291 Gallery for an evening of performance, films, music and live art exchange.
Combining large-scale performance works with smaller, more subtle interventions and durational installations, the evening will be a young fore-runner waving its flag for a new force of thrill-seeking live-ness. Avant-sprawl.
The evening will unfold a combination of simultaneous and successional interruptions. We are very pleased to include the premiere of SUNDAY DRIVE, a spectacular group performance by Darling Woman Productions, supported by the Arts Council. Also there will be Mark McGowan's new work INPRISONER, 'LAUGHING MATTERS' by Nicola Green, 'AN INVITATION TO KNEEL' by Barbara Dean, films by Edwina Ashton and 'SIMON BLOWS UP THE WORLD' by Simon Ould. We can promise ventriloquists, ballerinas selling ice cream and much more. THE LUDES play live, and experimental DJs TATT AND MONE play all night in the bar.
The event takes place from 8pm till 2am and will bring together over 30 new and well-known artists in a carnival of live art exchange, music and film.
