Sweet & Sour 19-04-2005

Fusing Spoken words, Visual Arts, Music and Food, Sweet and Sour leaves Its space to the imagination and the mood of this session's sorcerers. Having recently co-organised The Burial of Isabella Dale in the Crypt of St Pancras Church, Mixed media artist Dan Harris, whose work includes elements of film, photography, installation, graphics and drawing, introduces us to the disclosure or an unseen ana possibly fictitious urban landscape and to the construction of mythologies around these spaces.

After showing his new friend Lucy Waterman various venues such as Hip Heaven, A Spoonful of Poison at The Rhythm Factory and Songs in the Dark at the Betsy Trotwood, West London-based writer and performer James Kettle. who's appeared on Resonance FM and regularly writes for Newsrevue, will be introducing Lucy to the surreal, nasty and political side of the poetry world: having embraced the audience in small venues in Reading and a across London. including the human Zoo, new songstress Tabitha Benjamin is telling stories of our lives with her unique melancholic and delicate voice; with a self-appointed mission of putting both the human touch and the enjoyment back into live music, The Barefoot Bushmen, who've been supporting the likes of The Ravonettes and Ben Kweller and developing their own sound among others at the Barfly, Garage and Dublin castle, are ready again to play their unique and exciting pastiche for creativity, ranging from pseudo-sixties vocal harmony, to all out punk laps of honour, whilst spinning a constant thread of melody.

Through the night, while indulging the audience with Sweet and Sour food platters, music wizard Julen Pons leads the traditional am session, with a little help of his friends’ filmmakers, celebrating the return of American poet and singer Dwayne while our Trombone poetry man, Paul Taylor is back for another mix of spoken words and jazzy beats
