291 Gallery in association with New York University, London and Spool-Pool host a series of special events to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the poet Arthur Rimbaud, whose mythology and Influence has coloured an immense field of inquiry from ethnography, modern literature to cultural theory, and the artistic terrains of painting, performing arts, film, music and sonic experimentation.

291 host three consecutive nights of performance, rare films & video, spoken word and poetry and includes artists, filmmakers, academics and curators who have come together to celebrate the life and times of the great poet, and to simultaneously explore the legacy of his influence from early Modernism to our present contemporary culture. writer and broadcaster Paul Ryan gives an introduction on the lire and poetry of Rimbaud and critically investigates the liberated creative manifestations and enduring influence the poet has on modern culture.

Plotting out a course for a voyage through contemporary writing and spoken word will be Gad Hollander, Cristina Viti, Herve Constant, Susana Medina, Oliver Bernara and many more. The events will feature rare and unseen films by Maurice Lemaitre, Giles Breton, Leonard Schwartz, Stefano Canapa, Michael Maziere, Benn Northover, Manuela Corti, Jean-Philippe Perrot, Fatigoni and Marco Zoi. Performances by Matteo Licitra, Ricardo Vezzosi, William Brown, Oliver Bernard, and including the Rimbaudien music of Gamine, Patti smith, John Cage, Hector Zazou, Bill Laswell and Benjamin Britten.
