FILMGRUPPE CHAOS - LEBENDE LEICHEN SCHAFFEN ZWINGENDE ZWEIFEL (Super 8mm, 8 mins) Filmgruppe Chaos was founded in 1975 as a collective of Super-8 filmmakers. The group has produced short experimental, animation and documentary films The Group always wanted to support the idea of a true underground and independent filmmaking. Spreading information, lending out equipment, offering workshops and organising small film screenings and bigger events as well as setting up some film festivals have always been part of their activities Their work often is connected with music. Audio/visual piece set in a world where people don't speak and make animal-type noises. The film is about two little kids who share a beautiful day together only to part forever.

CORAL SHORT - AMAZING GRAVES (MiniDV, 10 minutes)

Amazing Graves is a 7-minute film we made in Glasgow last summer in the Necropolis (the ancient city of the dead), which is attached to the majestic sooty Glasgow cathedral.

It's a gang warfare dance-off combined with an interspecies lesbian love affair involving dandy zombies and rockabilly werewolves. Think Thriller meets West Side Story with some Goodfellas thrown in. Homosexual, a band from London/Germany on Irrk Records, graced our movie during the dance party finale. Many of our talented actors are also musicians in Glasgow. and they created all the sound effects and musical accompaniment for the film.

KARIN KIHLBERG AND REUBEN HENRY - LIKE A MUSICAL (MiniDV, 9 minutes)

'Like a Musical' brings the fantastical and colourful atmosphere of musical cinema into a daily life setting. Taking inspiration from moments of musical cinema where, following a lone singer. the whole world Joins in. giving the impression that the entire population has the ability to ad-lib an elaborate choreographed number. The two short musicals are placed into the fabric of the city, following the narrative of people who frequent these locations.

Business men singing about their spilt coffee and closing deadlines, construction workers and housewives complain about their daily toil, trendies sing their misunderstanding about those who do not follow fashions, and a body-popping security guard tries to use his authority to out-dance the masses. Then, just as inconspicuously as it began, the singer/dancers disappear into the crowd. The video document contains a mix of the studio footage and hidden camera footage of the live performances. Commissioned by Fierce International and Performance Festival.

KEVIN ROWE - BUBONIC VIDEO and THE MISERABLE AND CALAMITOUS SPECTACLE (MiniDV and Computer-generated animation, 7 minutes)

'Smog' a DVD by Kevin Rowe consisting of three short films, is a personal take on a city that can be hostile, splendid, welcoming and gloomy, sometimes it's difficult to distinguish between any given subjective state and the objective processes that give life to the city. Smog struggles to elucidate the murky margins of the personal and the social, the uneasy space of the dirty hangover only gives way to clarity and elation through exercise and clean victuals; and on the way, somewhere in between, you might get a fleeting glimpse of the ordinary. We will be showing two of the films this evening

CLAIRE FOWLER - WHERE PAPER WILL TOUCH THE SKIN (MiniDV, 45seconds)

A paper dress, as fragile and transient as the skin it touches. The title is taken from the sewing instructions that informed the making of the dress.

FOLK ARCHIVE (ALAN KANE AND JEREMY DELLER) - VIDEO COMPILATION

The folk archive is an attempt to collect and show contemporary folk art from all parts of Britain and Ireland. It is a vibrant, visual account of popular creativity in the UK. It intends to update what folk art is and to include as broad a cross section of cultural, regional and philosophical aspects of creativity as possible. Organised by Alan Kane and Jeremy Deller, the project recently held an amazing exhibition at the Barbican and it is currently touring the country. Celebrating folk art's dynamic and influential role in British society, the exhibition features an astonishing range of work, from needlework to a mechanical elephant, as well as documentation of events, drawings and paintings, many with a narrative or commemorative element. Surprising and revealing, Folk Archive otters a truly alternative view of our culture.

Folk Archive is an ongoing project. This compilation of video work has been specially compiled for take 291 tonight. It features apples, elephants, gurning, fire and explosions.
