Light Reading: 23-10-2001

Our Tuesday open screenings return twice a month as a new initiative to establish a platform for young/emerging filmmakers and rediscover the rich archive of the British avant-garde. Light Reading is organised by Karen Mirza and Brad Butler and aims to examine the recording eye (documentary) and the interpreting eye (artists film and video) and in prolonging the historical relationship between documentary and the avant garde.

30th October presented by David Leister

David Leister has been making films in London since 1978. He has formed not only a large catalogue of his own work but also has an extensive archive of found footage ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. His stores of film equipment have facilitated many film screenings over this period and David has been an ever present on the film circuit. This screening is a celebration of David’s own work and work from his store cupboard. Work includes: Dark leader, Faith Triumphant, Nature Boy and Interlude as well as a number of rarely screened surprises.
