An art-disaster film about an American gallerist meeting a Russian con-artist through a dating agency. A Russian voice-over tellls their dramatic story, the camera rides on a remote controlled car through a model of an ice-filled car park. A computer game-like quality with a personal touch.

A big float decorated with flowers moves slowly in front of a camera against

a sunny sky backdrop. A woman tells her story of being pregnant with eight

babies. The experience makes her believe that her story could be accepted

as a fairy tale. Olde Wolbers transforms one of last year's biggest tabloid scandals into a timeless folk tales.

Born in the Netherlands in 1971, Saskia Olde Wolbers has lived and worked in London and Amsterdam. In 1996 she received an FBKBV stipend to complete an MA at Chelsea College. She has shown her videos and miniature film sets in festivals, group and solo exhibitions in Holland. In 1998 she has presented her work at the Pandaemonium Festival in the LUX Cinema, Videonale 8 at the Bonner Kunst Verein in Bonn Germany, Brilliant Twelve at the Pitshanger Gallery London, Home Case Study in Gallery Skuc in Slovenia, Ladies Smoking Room in the St Pancras Hotel London, Super Models Begane grond Utrecht, Adhocracy at Gallery Herold in Bremen, Germany and the World Wide Video Festival in Berlin. Olde Wolbers was selected for the First Base Award Programme by ACAVA and will exhibit her new video Day-glow at the coming First Base show next year in London. Other upcoming shows are Video Lisboa in Lisbon, Flings in Reykjavik and Flying Bushes in Dublin.
