Vis a Vis

Thursday 7th October 2004

A one-night event featuring a selection of artists and designers from London Metropolitan University's MA Matrix.

Among the artists showing are internationally acclaimed metalsmith Simone ten Hompel and entrepreneurial artist Neil Ferguson. Julia Moore steps inside the pseudo identities that she has created to produce her artwork, whereas Marjo Herpo invites you, the viewer, to step inside her intriguing textile cocoon to engage. Hema Rishi makes saucy things and Julia Cort explores language as mask! Pavla Alchin presents a short film inspired by actress Anny Ondra who played in Hitchcocks Manxman and Blackmail plus "photographic wallpaper" by Aurelien Thomas. The evocative memory boxes of Isabelle Tassef Ellenkoff are a real treat and feast for the imagination. Jeweller Emma Wardle has created a series of "Real Fakes" which have already been featured in "W" and ID magazine and silversmith Louise Loder presents"The Last Supper" and the more playful series of "Tools for building Sandcastles."

The diverse content of their work raises many questions regarding the gossamer boundaries between art, decoration and craft.

There will be music in the bar by Spindrift (Whirl-y-Gig) and we invite everyone to come and celebrate with us.
